Preschool Programming Literacy

Los Alamos STEAM Lab 1615 Central Ave, Suite 202, Los Alamos

In this class we will use the Ozobot Evo as well as some physical activities to learn programming skills. The Evo is able to follow paths and can be programmed with a series of color codes. Students will arrange magnets with these paths and color codes to make mazes for the Evo to follow. Students will also work on their precision by giving their caregivers instructions to perform tasks. This is an often silly game that usually results in much giggling. Ninety minutes is a long time to stay focused, so we’ll also have plenty of free play time with the robots, legos, and snap circuits mixed in.

NEW TIME: Draft your own Bodice Block

Los Alamos STEAM Lab 1615 Central Ave, Suite 202, Los Alamos

Use measurements and math to draft your own perfectly fitting bodice block. We’ll use the formulas in Patternmaking for Fashion Design to create the block. If time permits, students will sew the block in class and make adjustments.

In the second class we will take the well-fitting block and learn how to modify it to produce several patterns for custom fitted shirts such as a raglan shirt, t-shirt, and camisole.
