Mornings:

Each morning kiddos will have a choice between participating in our theme activity, heading off to a playground, or simply playing with our Lego, magnatile, board games, marble runs, or messing around in our adventure area.

Those of you who’ve joined us in the past may recall that we used to have separate tracks, but our new larger space will allow us more flexibility.  The tracks exist, but the decisions can be made each morning, not at the time of registration.

Afternoons

Each week kiddos will have opportunities to go on at least two field trips as small groups.  We have in mind things like heading to the splash pad in WR, disc golf on North Mesa, the Leisure Lagoon, visiting local museums and the library, and more.  We’ll also aim to take groups off to the playground at least once a day. This year any costs for field trips (such as entry into the aquatic center) are included in the camp cost.

Weekly Themes

June 1st – 5th: No Theme

This week is all about having fun and decompressing from the school year.  We find that kiddos really just want to play this week, so that’s the plan.

June 8th – 12th: [Recycled] Engineering Week

This week still has a fair bit of planning to do, but we *might* build tall towers, make derby cars out of bottle caps and cardboard, drop eggs off of high places, shoots stomp rockets into the sky, and generally have fun with the recycling.

June 15th – 19th: TTRPG Week

Kids will learn how to develop characters, participate in short campaigns, and get a gentle intro into the world of RPGs.  We’ll also have some Magic and Pokemon decks ready for playing with along with the staff to facilitate fun games.

June 22nd – June 26th:  Spy Week

Learn to pick locks, crack ciphers, dust for shoe prints, and navigate a laser [yarn] maze!  This week will be all about sneaking around.  On our last day the kids will put all of their skills to the test and work in teams to steal priceless gems from our breakout box!

June 29th – July 2nd: Adventure Week

This week is all about physical play.  We’ll set up obstacle courses, play with the knocker balls, create challenges for our bouldering wall, capture the flag, and generally have fun pushing our limits.

July 6th – 10th: Robots

Each day will see kids provided with a new challenge to program and modify a robot to perform. We’ve added to our robot collection over the past year and have even more robots, including some that are great for emerging readers.

July 13th – 17th: Braille, Abacus, and ASL

Come learn about different ways of reading, talking, and mathing!  Kiddos will learn to decode and encode braille with a slate and stylus and use a braille typewriter.  They’ll learn how vision impaired kiddos [and everyone else] can use an abacus to do math and how to use a cane to navigate the world.  We’ll also watch some amazing ASL storytelling on the TV, learn the ASL alphabet, and some more basic signs.

July 20th – 24th: Recycled Crafts

We’ll pull out all of the recycling, glue guns, and tape and make some fun and robust crafts, cosplay, forts, friend, or whatever strikes your fancy.  This week will be messy!

July 27th – July 31st: Minecraft

Every day will have a different focus, both on and off of tablets.  We’ll have redstone tutorials, architectural build challenges, and learn how to use command blocks.  We’ll also make cardboard models, draw new skins, and have treasure hunts to find build items.

Aug 3rd – 7th: No Theme

We know we’ll have camp, but we don’t know how it will work with staffing yet. This week may have limited field trips due to staffing.
