Parenting in a Neurospicy Household

We started a parenting series in the Fall of 2024 to address the particular ups and downs of parenting in a household containing neurospicy kids and adults. The series focuses mainly on autism, ADHD, anxiety, and asynchronous giftedness. The goal was to address the fact that most parenting advice assumes neurotypicality and can often have harmful outcomes for both kids and parents who are not.

Thanks to a JJAB grant, talks are free and come with free childcare as well as free catered dinner. Childcare is provided at STEAM Lab where staff has much familiarity with neurospicy kiddos. Talks are held offsite at either Mesa Public Library or, when STEAM Lab relocates, at Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse. We do request an RSVP to secure appropriate resources.

Upcoming Talks

Tara Adams will be the presenter for our Spring 2025 series.

Tara Adams (she/her) is the parent of three young adults who grew up in a 100% neurospicy household. She has worked with children and their caregivers since she had dial-up Internet, but people say she looks great for her age.
